The Label Came Back Mirrored

second portal pull of the same study ID, L marker and ERECT label both printed mirror-reversed

Ive requested my films four times now from the portal since the march file thing, not just the one I already wrote up, the actual DICOM pull this time, not the jpeg, because the jpeg export they give you by default is already a compressed lie and I stopped trusting the compressed lie around the second request. first pull after that one, fine, the L marker sits where it sits, upper left, reads correct, Erect spelled forward like a normal word someone printed on a normal machine. second time. mirrored. the little L, backwards. the word Erect, backwards, same two words as before, like somebody held the film up to a light from the wrong side and rescanned it that way and didnt think anyone downloads their own spine twice in one year to check. I do. three times now I have the backwards version saved and one time I have the correct one and thats four total if your counting, four, and the ratio alone should tell you something, three to one isnt a scanner bug thats a pattern that forgot to stay consistent with itself.

a flipped film isnt cosmetic by the way, before anyone writes in about export settings. left and right matter on a spine, the marker exists so a radiologist a hundred miles away doesnt operate on the wrong side of somebody, and if the marker can be silently mirrored on MY chart then it can be mirrored on anyones, and nobody at the imaging center will even confirm which tech pulled the file last, they just say "huh thats odd" and transfer you to records, who transfer you back. my wife keeps asking why I still have the folder in the hallway closet next to the breaker box, four printouts now, and I dont have a good answer thats isnt just the record, the record, keep the record. Anyway. the breaker box clicked off twice last week for no reason anyone can find and I know thats a separate thing. I know that. im not saying its not.

the second pull came back mirrored and so did the fourth and the third came back correct and they want you to think thats random, "scanners glitch," sure, except I pulled the exact same study ID both times and a glitch doesnt know which ID to be consistent about being wrong on. Ill request it again next month. L. Erect. backwards. three flipped to one clean and nobody at the imaging center will put that ratio in writing, they just say huh.
