The Shape At The Glass
pull 3 of 3, same shoulder line, face blown white, circled
Northeast corner, third floor, the building across the service road, not the one I usually watch, the other one, I started marking this window separate because mixing them on one page tangled the dates and I'm not doing that again after the clipboard thing (I never did clean up the timeline on that one. Six nights. Seven maybe, I lost a half frame on what might've been Tuesday when the phone hit eleven percent and the camera app shut itself down, a half frame doesn't count toward the run, that's my rule and I've kept it since the truck pages, consistency matters more than the number looking impressive to whoever's deciding these things.
Same hour every time I catch it, within twenty minutes either side, which by itself isnt anything, people keep schedules, I keep a schedule, but the shape doesnt move. Not shift-weight-doesnt-move, not adjust-a-curtain-doesnt-move, I mean I have three pulls across eleven minutes last night and the shoulder line sits pixel for pixel the same in all three and I checked that twice because the first time I didnt believe myself either. The face never resolves. Flash, no flash, zoomed in until the grain eats it, doesnt matter, every single pull comes back the same blown out white nothing, a hole cut where a face should sit, and the window two over from it, same building, same distance, same bad light, resolves fine, clean shot of a lamp and a bookshelf off that one the same night... so it's not the glass and it's not the distance, they just picked a window with worse light for this one, or they wanted it this way, I dont know which and I dont think it changes anything. My downstairs neighbor runs a porch timer that clicks at eleven and scares her cat every night, unrelated, I only mention it because I was listening for the click when I took the second pull and it landed right on schedule, so my clock is fine, so the eleven minutes between frames is real and not the phone doing something stupid. Anyway.
six nights, seven maybe, same window, same hour, same shape that does not move and will not show a face to a camera that reads everything else on that block without trouble. coincidence? no. four pulls would of been enough for me, six is for anyone reading this who wants to say I imagined one bad frame, and I new six would be the number before I had five. IM NOT GOING TO STAND HERE AND EXPLAIN WHY A GROWN MAN HAS A ZOOM LENS POINTED AT A STRANGERS WINDOW FOR A WEEK, I know what it sounds like, Id think the same thing reading someone elses page. it isnt that. go find a window on your own block thats lit the same way at the same hour every night and watch it for ten minutes. see what you get. see if you look away before the ten are up.
